The weather is getting warmer, and days are getting longer. The first day of spring is March 19, making this the perfect time to begin tackling your spring tree and landscape checklist. So dust off those gardening gloves, call Atlas Tree Service and prepare to get your landscape in shape.

The first step is to take some time to walk around and do a thorough inspection of your trees and shrubs. Here’s what you or your Arborist Expert from Atlas Tree Service will be looking for:

  • standing water, drainage issues, weeds in planting beds
  • low vigor, poor color, dead twigs and limbs
  • insects, fungi, diseases

Spring Tree and Landscape ChecklistNext, you’ll want to prepare for the upcoming growing season by having your soils and water tested. Healthy trees and shrubs start with healthy soils. At Atlas Tree Service, our approach to Plant Health Care (PHC) is a scientific one. Creating a PHC management plan based specifically on lab results from your soil and water testing is key to a beautiful, healthy landscape.

Now that inspection and testing is complete, it’s time to perform the following clean up tasks:

  • remove dead or diseased plants or trees
  • prune dead or dying limbs
  • shape or reduce vines and overgrown plants
  • remove weeds and debris

Finally, after the inspection, testing and clean up phases are complete, it’s time to give your trees and shrubs some spring time TLC. Atlas Tree Service has the knowledge and expertise to develop a Plant Health Care Management plan for your landscape. This management plan may include some or all of the items listed below:

    • soil moisture management
    • prescription fertilizer applications
    • root collar management
    • soil rejuvenation
    • mulching
    • preventative pest and disease applications
